I made a previous thread asking between hard drives generally, but now I'm being much more specific. The 7200.12 1Tb or the 7200.11 1.5Tb

I'm going to be using it for a 7 install, as well as storage. And while the 1.5Tb obviously has more space, reading some reviews, the fact that its based on the .11 rather than the .12 means its going to be slower, and since its going to be used for windows and games, the faster but smaller .12 drive's going to be the best choice? £/Gb wise there's basically nothing in it, so that's not going to influence my decission. Ideally I'd pick the larger drive, just for storage in the future, but I don't want to sacrifice any speed in the decision.
Or would the difference not even be noticable?

Thanks!

Don't buy the .11 - even tho the firmware bugs are supposed to be fixed now I simply wouldn't chance it...

Also the .12 has the newer 500gb platters.

There's firmware bugs? That's just the sort of info I came here for, thanks for that :D

There was a major fiasco with the .11 series with lots of drives bricking... seagate rolled out a firmware update that actually made it worse - before finally getting one out that apparently fixed it... but I've still seen quite a few .11s bricking even then...

So far I've not had a single problem with any of the .12 drives I've dealt with - and I've got 3 RAID arrays using them here plus installed a few in PCs for other people.

I'm using a pair of 7200.11 1.5Tb drives for storage and touch wood haven't had any problems with them. They are also quicker then the pair of 500Gb 7200.11 drives I have which I use for the OS and general backups.

I'm using a 7200.11 1.5Tb for storage. Had it for over 9 months with no problems as of yet.
Recently bought the 2TB LP and im very happy with it.

Never had any issues with Seagate
