Yahoo held the top spot until Google took over them in 2001. My fave back then though was Infoseek because you could drill down your results. Then when Google took over everything, I think I finally switched over to Google around 2004ish.

Does anyone still use directory services? I still find them useful - favourite is the Open Directory Project www.dmoz.org

Does anyone remember the Mickey-take engine called Booble? Not sure if it was ever real, but I thought the idea was amusing :-)

I just remember it cropping up on BBC News about 10 years ago.

AdBlock is so 2013/14.

The better adblocker is μBlock. Same blocking features (well a few more in fact) as AdBlock, just more efficient and lighter on resources.

Sometimes Firefox (on the odd occasion I use it) chooses to search with Bing. I wince, change it back to Google, and carry on searching for Brazillian midget fart porn.

tbh i doubt adblockl is enough of a drain to even be noticeable on any pc owned by somone one here lol

It's about efficiency though, we are Overclockers, we pride ourselves on having fast and efficient battlestations surely?!

does shoving more power into something to produce more waste heat really count as efficiency?
