Which Sennheiser?

Strange how all of the Sennheiser HD...... are open.
Really?

Anyway while its generally considered you get a better soundstage from open, there is no doubt that closed will give you better bass impact which is what you want from gaming cans.

They're open, like Grados so they leak lots of sound.
Open phones are usually classed as the best phones around, most closed back (sealed phones) have a boomy one noted bassy sound to them.

Denon D2000's sound pretty damn amazing for a closed can. :D

But yeah, open cans generally sound better at this price range. Yiu can get some amazing closed headphones, but you have to pay a lot for them.

The good ones (555 through 650) are open yeah.

v1bez, you could maybe also check out the HD265 which are the closed-back type:

A few years ago, I listened to this headphone (or one that looks extremely similar which cost about £150) and compared it with the, now discontinued, open-type HD565, and I preferred the latter ones. The HD265 had better bass but it sounded a bit closed-in so I went for the HD565s.

I think I've seen the HD265s selling just above £100.

The HD555s get sparkling reviews on the net and around OcUK forum so you wont go wrong if you get them, can't comment on how much better the 595s would be though.

Well again in my room so not bothered about open headphones now. I just can't decide between the 555's or 595's. I've looked at others, but still prefer these for some reason :o.
