Which settings do you use?

Highest settings as possible, am willing to concede anti-aliasing but not much else. If more and more titles cause me to drop more and more settings (beginning of a trend) then I upgrade the video card. However, since I usually (not every time when I make a purchase) buy the highest or near top end card I rarely need to upgrade the graphics card that often.

First play thru (easy)/old game - max everything
Second play thru (hardest)/serious online gaming (an age since i last did that) - almost all low.

VSync always off...i never seem to get tearing and it always seems slow at response. Prob just got it into my head that way and now always "feel" it.

1920x1200 and I adjust the AA/AF to bring the fps below 60, so I don't have to enable vsync. Textures at max, but may compromise quality of shadows if fps nosedives when AA set to minimum 2x.

If you're playing online you may aswell do well, it's not like the graphics actually matter all that much to some people...

Depends on what your pc spec is, id rather have things as sharp as possible than have it look like something off a commodore 64.

As most poeple i tend to stick it at full and if it lags i lower aa or af, sometimes lower shadows as that cause fps problems in some games.

As for v sync it depends on the game as others have said can effect the mouse in some games. i tend to leave it off for fps games on for everything else. But some games can have v sync off with out the screen tearing.

I cant really understand people lowering their settings for online games, i'd only do that if i had a naff pc. I find ugly grahpics more distracting then pretty graphics.

i am using by the frames you are capping you play either cod2 or cod4.

Correct... cod4 :)

Enemy Territory was the same though, I used to play that. I go for the 'magic numbers' in fps cap.

For those who say you can't feel the difference for anything above 90... your wrong. I have joined modded servers where fps is locked at 90 and I can instantly feel the difference, it's horrible if your used to higher.

If it's a single player game that doesn't 'need' high frame rates.. I'll max it out :D
