Which Shift Would You Do?

2-10, youre not gonna get a great social life with the 6-2, youre up early,be tired after, and if you go out at night for a few drinks with friends, your gonna have to be in bed by 12 and not be able to get drunk, whereas 2-10 you can still join your friends on the drink after work, get drunk and not worry about work till 2pm!

But if you needed to you could go to bed for a few hours after work anyway.

I do night shifts but only half the time and it is 12 hour shifts, 4 days work, 4 days off. having 4 days off makes it ok. With normal weekends you wouldn't have time to recover so it would be rubbish, combined with bad hours during the week = bye bye life.

6-2 or 10-6 for me. I quite like the idea of working nights for some reason, especially if the pay is better :)

6-2 for sure.
You can flick the v's at 9-5 workers when you finish 3 hours prior to them :D

I'm used to getting up at 5 oclock every day now, I usually do 6 - 12, then if i've got college i'll go there then (Don't have any lectures before 1). Only do sundays in tescos now thank god, doing early mornings and evenings was destroying me, I occasionally go to college then do some overtime at tescos in the evening though.

When I get a full time job though i'm gonna try get early mornings, i'm really starting to like getting up proper early now that my body is used to it.

Good thing about it, you got the rest of the day. If you need to go Docs are dentist then youknow you dont have to take time of from work. Not all work place like giving you much time off from work these days.

Been doing this sgift for the last 4 years... And love it... Now that summer is around the corner im gona enjoy it even more.

Well, I ended Up Going for the Night Shifts, as the other's meant working weekends and thats something I couldn't do :D!

Thanks for all the input guys!

This would actually be a harder decision than I originally imagined. I work 8 - 4.30 and find I am hitting bed by around 11 -12 in the evenings which suits me fine. After a few weeks with no real break though I find myself passing out by 10. I think the tiredness from 6 - 2 would soon outweigh the perceived benefits of more hours in the day time. Most mates would still be at work anyway. However having worked 2 - 10 in the past I wouldn't want that one either as I used to feel massively restricted knowing I was at work in a couple of hours, and used to just end up sleeping in everyday. Night shifts would be totally out of the question. I guess I'd take 6 while 2 as a compromise but would much rathe be on a changing rota with those options.

I'm currently on a rotation where one week I'll be on 0600-1400 and then the next 1400-2200 - have just finished a week of the latter and it was a pain with the warm sunny weather being stuck indoors - hopefully next week when I'm up bright an early it'll continue to be warm settled weather!

I tend to stay up late when on late shifts too so don't get up till late and then it's nigh on time to go to work so no fun - whereas with earlies I've at least got the afternoon/evening to do what I want :)
