Which single core 939 ??

yeah, thats kinda what i'm leaning towards... and at £70, it wouldn't be too annoying to even let it sit in the cupboard and use for testing etc, or maybe drop into a htpc.

if i went to sell it, and all the s939's drop by 20%, it'd only be a tenner or so lost on the 3000, nearly double on the 3700. also at £70, with my ram and ninja, would be happy to push it to the limit.

thx everyone for the responses, hasn't changed my mind but has been very informative - also reassuring to know that not too many see it as a stupid move. think i'll get a 3000rtl ordered !!

Well I ripped out the 4800 this morning and dropped the new 3000 in its place. So far so good, dropped the mem onto a nice divider, dropped the multi to 8, dropped htt to 3, and upped the fsb to 320 (trying to get everything right, htt staying around 1000ish, and keeping the mem on tightish timings).

Running nicely now @2.56 on stock volts. Ninja fan on slowest setting, and max temp gets to 48c (idles low/mid 30s). Wasn't oc'ing my 4800, so as long as I'm not running TONS of apps at once, it easily feels as nippy as the X2 was.

Pretty pleased with the decision so far, and it'll happily last me a few months. Shame I didn't get too much for the 4800 tho - used prices have already started dropping a lot by the looks of it.
