Which socket 939 64 X2 for overclocking

I spent ages looking for a good stepping x2 4400+, all the etailors I contacted couldnt verify if it was a 89w or 110w let alone the stepping code, the UK suxs for finding paticular steppings. Ended up getting a opty 165 from a popular auction site, just waiting to get a better air cooler (tuniq/ninja) inorder to hit the 3ghz mark.

The 3800+ and 4400+ are the two sweet spots in the X2 range.

All you need to decide is which you want to pay for.

My advice, however, would be to wait and just get a conroe :D

Yes i just bought myself a 4400+ from OCUK this morning, upgrade from my 3500+. Looking forward to the Dual Core AND 1MB cache speed improvements. I need to get a nice set of 2GB low latency memory really, best to wait till late 2006 when DDR prices fall ?

DDR prices may never fall, since DDR2 is the standard now and both AM2 and Core 2 Duo make use of it.

Demand is unlikely to die for a long time too and when it does supply will have also dropped.

Well I'm at 2.5GHz at stock voltage, well at 1.328 as mobo undervolts 19 hour dual Prime stable.

Tried at 2.6GHz, but locked up at Windows welcome screen. I'd say it will be fine if I bump the volts up to 1.35v/1.375v.

2.7~2.8GHz will be about what this chip maxes at IMHO ;)

That's amazing...stock voltage...but is it stable? ...and my CPU gets 29 sec in superpi on 2.86?
I had the memory running at about 200Mhz and think that hurt my time a bit, i don't think it would be stable at that over a long period because it's a barebones system with only a 250w psu and the Hyper Transport link's at 1.3Ghz because i can't change it. I just ran super PI and got the screenshot then put it back to its usual 2.6Ghz that i run it at.
