Which Socket A Cooler?

Hi All, Have a Mobile Barton XP 2500+, It overclocks hapily to 2.43Ghz With an SLK-900u And 80MM Delta Screamer, However this cooler is by far to noisy, and if posible I want to push the CPU a tad further!

So my question is this, What is the best Socket A Cooler I can get today? That is better than the SLK-900 + Delta Screamer, TY!

The G-Power Pro is available new and B-grade and are in stock. I have one cooling my 3700sd @ 2.8 and right now its idleing at 30'c on the slowest speed setting

Before this cpu it was cooling my xp3200, and again on the slowest setting it kept it nice and cool.
All in all its a very good cooler thats quiet when turned down. The bonus of it being compatable with all socket types is nice, as like me you can take it with you when you upgrade.

Overkill yes, but means i can run it at the lowest speed in a media pc so is barely audible

If your mb has holes round the socket you can fit a TT big typhoon. Be warned tho its big!! Works a treat though as my chip never goes above 40c underload but before it was hitting 50c with previous uprated and mooded cooler. Best thing is typhoon does it in silence!

If you can find one go for a Thermalright SLK900A or Thermalright SP97, strap a tornado fan onto it and you have one of the best air coolers there ever was 4 skta

But he is looking for something that is a bit less noisey and a tornado fan certainly isnt unless at minimum speed setting. At max its a very noisey

Your existing heatsink is pretty much the best socket A cooler going.

The ones newer that yours are basially just small revions to the original design from thermalright.

They will make at most 30mhz or so difference to your final clock.

I used to run a 92mm vantec tornado at full blast on my XP 2500+ M and that did 2.7ghz with an SP97 (slightly better than your cooler but by the tinyiiest of margins)

For comparison, before the SP97. I was using a Thermalrigth AX-7 (Best cooler going until the SLK series came out).

That got the chip to 2.6ghz with a normal YS-TECH 80mm fan.

Its really not worth the "upgrade". Considering the price\performane, it would be madness to even consider buying a new cooler. But i guess thats all down to the persons income etc. Just saying your really not going to be happy with the result if you do decide to fork out on a new cooler, unless your also willing to put up with hearing a jet engine preparing to take off at the same time.

Can't you get a 120mm to 80mm converter and install a decent 120mm fan on the existing heatsink

What kind of load temps are you getting? A 120mm to 80mm adapter costs on a couple of pounds then you could get a 120mm 78cfm thunderblade for around £7. That would at least equal the performance of present setup but at a fraction of the noise.

What vcore are you using to get to that speed?
