The Cars - Drive perchance? One of those songs that epitomises cheese but none the worse for all that.

I saw a satellite feed few years ago with Ian Astbury fronting... The Doors reunion. It wasn't even in a ballpark of Morrison, but I'm glad I saw it, as I went out and bought full set of The Cult records next day (full discography is actually hard to find these days in London..).
For a Yorkshire band they were incredibly, incredibly American sounding.
