I am looking to get a 40" Bravia but I don't know which one to get, I have seen the KDL-40T3500 for £800 and the KDL40V3000U for £915. I have read good reviews of all the Sony's but I am wondering if anyone knows somewhere that has compared the different 40" screen's directly with one another?

Thanks

there's loads of models now, i dont know what they are playing at. i saw an advert on tv today for a 40p3000, that now means there's at least 10 different 40inch models, and i know at least one of the newer range is a rebadged 40w. its madness.

now we've got:
40p3000
40s2000, 40s3000
40v2000, 40v3000
40u2000, 40u3000
40w2000, 40w3000
40x2000, 40x3000, 40x3500

oh and dont forget the 40d3000 either lol

You seem to be forgetting the new bravias :

T3500 ( Slightly better then the P3500 ? )
the most rediculeous of all is the D3500 which loses the 100hz and gets 1080P, so is now exactly like the V3000.

and there is no such thing as a X3000.

It's too confusing

What is your budget ? They go in this order ( AFAIK ) So you can decide yourself depening on what yu can afford :

U3000
P3000
T3500
S3000/3500
D3000/3500
V3000
W3000
X3500

Thanks for the replies guys, I ended up going for this deal, I get a £800 40V3000 and my mate gets a £200 PS3 :)

Everyone is happy.

:) I just also ordered this. Also planning on selling mine. 40V3000 for £750 sounds good to me. :)

Let me know when you take the order.

Well I ordered today around lunch time, I got a call about 17.20 asking me when I'd like delivery, earliest was the 7th of Jan so I took that :)

looked at v3000 and w3000

could not live with the picture on the v 3000
got the w 3000 even though it cost 400 more
seeing them side by side makes you think a v would be a waste

My 46W2000 is going strong, and aside from the lack of 24fps support I couldn't be happier.

Too many choices in the 3000 range though, it's madness.

ive been looking at bravias recently after being informed that i should be looking into LCD's instead of plasmas for gaming. Any way can i ask why the 24fps support is important. As i understand it thats what films are recorded at so what is yours if it isnt 24fps o_0

well, it just means they cant display at 24fps, or any derivative of it (ie, 48, 72 ect). they can do everything else like 25, 30, 50 ,60 fps.

incidental, there has been limited success with the 40w2000's and getting them to run 24hz using vga, not that that's really that helpful lol

AFAIK PAL TVs display at 25fps (or some derivative) meaning that all the films we watch are speeded up by 4%. Displaying at 24fps (or a multiple thereof) allows you to watch films as they were originally shot.

as other posters have said, it will either speed it up to 25fps using 2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:3 pulldown

or perform whats called 3:2 Pulldown to play it back at 30fps

which it does depends on the set. Details of both pulldown methods are in the link above. But neither is desirable as it ruins the motion in the film

Note this only applies to bluray / hd dvd which have no PAL / SECAM / NTSC versions. They are pre converted to that regions fps. Bluray / HD-DVD both come in 24fps for all regions.
