Ok Folks

I have been looking into some sound docks or system for the iPad and iPhone.

I have been looking into the following 3

Bose SoundLink Air
B&W A5
Sonos Play 3

I believe all 3 have got to be connected to our home Wifi to get them to work. This meaning I cant take it out of Wifi range to listen to music ie when going caravanning so these system are not really portables like the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth am i right here?

Anyway out of the 3 listed I am stuck on which to get. B&W a bit pricey but you get what you pay for I guess. Sonos can be a expanded system at affordable prices and have radio napter etc (not too fuss on that) Bose I think work the same was as sonos can be linked up too but cost a bit more.

I love to hear your comments and though

Cheers

More bass ( but not over the top) than the Sonos.....and according to my mate, you have to buy a sub woofer upgrade for the Sonos?

Bose I have always thought are completely overated mate.

B & W will be as awesome quality as B & W always are.....but you'll pay for it :D

Comes down to the depth of your pockets and own personal preferrence ultimateley.

My main Hi Fi is by Linn so I am very precious about sound quality :)

For the money, you can't go wrong with the WAE.

The BT03 and BT05 are more of a portable/ beach/ picnics kind of device but, again, are fantastic for the price point.

The BT06 (http://wireless-audio.hercules.com/wbt06.php)is 95W RMS ( the Bose doesn't actually state out put anywhere I could find)

For a decent mini system for a bedroom or kitchen, the BT06 fills the room, come with bluetooth in built as well as a wireless dongle for PC/ Laptop/ Macbook etc. and a small remote control.

And the app is available for ipad/ ipod/ iphone as well as all android and has sound settings to play with.

There's also an aux socket on the back.

One thing to note.....ALL models in the WAE range are bluetooth and portable with a battery life of 20 hours at around 50% vol.

The BT06, however, is MAINS ONLY (no battery)If you want great sound but battery/ tru portability then this one will suit best, though its bluetooth ONLY: http://wireless-audio.hercules.com/wsm01.php

FILLS my kitchen :D

Thank you for such a great write up. Just a shame there is no where to demo one. Which one have you got am sure it the BT06?

I can only find it at one place in the uk online is that correct?

Never heard of this brand thou

no worries pal.

They are a brand new range by 'Hercules' who have been doing high end soundcards etc for years. They are now owned by 'Guillemot'......the company behind thrustmaster.

Hercules also used to do graphics cards :D

I have the BT06 as a kitchen system.

They are really new so a lot of shops may not have cottoned on to them yet.

heres a suggestion....type WAE Guillemot into app store and down the free app. It will 100% work with the tunes already on your iphone and just play through the iphone speakers but at least you can have a play and get a feel for it :)
