Mooching... in your house
got a mate coming to stay for a while and i'd love to find a good co-op fps to play (co-op as in run through the story together)...

I'm talking PS3 but if the winning formula is for the 360 then maybe i'll get one, i've been batting the idea round for a while anyway...

so... top 3 split-screen co-ops?

I enjoyed Halo 3 co-op, and the online multiplayer is excellent too. Plus you can play split-screen online multiplayer!

I think Rainbow Six Vegas and Vegas 2 have split-screen also, they might be worth a look too as they are fun FPS games. Outside of FPS, try Gears of War 1 and 2, they are still shooters and good fun in co-op.

PS3 - resistance fall of man and resistance 2 both quite good fun on split screen.

dont get haze however, utter tripe.

Halo 3, GoW series, Resistance series and Resident Evil 5.

I'm bundling them all into the "shooters" category rather than naming strict FPS games.

Resi 5, enjoyed the demo and it has received generally positive feedback on the forums. Be warned the aspect ratio for the screen split is a little... unique. You do get used to it tho. Obviously this is a 3rd person shooter, not a fps.

The two vegas games are pretty good too

PS3 is quite thin on the water for split screen shooters as far as i know, other great split screen coop games are:

Little Big Planet
Super Stardust HD
Warhawk (not coop as such but a great online splitscreen shooter with vehicles etc)

Eh? The aspect ratio is 16:9 for each player, which is bang on what it should be.

Ok well i used the wrong term. I don't know what term to use tbh so i'll just post a picture:

To me, it was weird at first.

You just mean it doesn't take up the whole screen?

Halo 3 doesn't either.

Well yes, but it's also offset for each display. There's no denying that no other split screen game has ever used the same approach hence why i defined it as unique.

I didn't like Halos split screen much either tbh. Really dislike it when they cut bits off the screen but i do appreciate why it is necessary.

resident evil 5
army of two

i played both from start to finish on co-op and they were both pretty fun :D

hmm ok, well i tried army of 2 and thought it was a bit pap, resistance 2 although i wanted it to be good was a let down and i couldn't get my head around the fancy new coop mode (just wanted to play the story really) so that leaves halo, GOW and RE5, so my dilemma now is just get RE5 for the PS3 and be done with it, or buy a 360 just for GOW and Halo (although i am sure i will find more games later down the line :))

choices choices, is GOW co-op good or proper super mega awesome?
