I have an Asus M5A97 motherboard with AMD Phenom II X6 100T processor.

I'm looking to purchase either a Samsung Pro 256GB SSD or a Samsung Evo 250GB SSD.

Which SSD would be best suited for my motherboard and what speeds can I expect with the motherboard I have?

Thanks

Pretty much any will do, normally there's no specific SSD to pair to a specific mobo. Does the board have SATA II or SATA III? (SATA 3gb/s or 6 gbp/s?)

Thanks for your quick responses.
I had a 128GB Corsair SSD which came with the used PC I purchased. It took around 1 minute to boot into Windows even though I understand it should really only take around 10 seconds. I've subsequently given the SSD away to a relative hence the reason I'm looking to buy a newer and more modern one.

I've been reading on the internet and some people mention the SSD should be installed on a Marvell controller? Do I have one of these on my motherboard?

No, that's only needed when the controller in the SSD is Sandforce based, otherwise normal SATA ports should be just fine

Different SSD's have different read/write speeds, I have an 80GB one had does it at around 250/80 my Samsung does it at something like 450/500.

Boots in desktop on windows 8.1 in 20secs without fast boot installed, with fast boot in was around 10-12.

Thanks Josh. As you have the same motherboard as me, is there an option in the BIOS for fast boot as I've never seen it? How do you enable fast boot?
Thanks
