Which SSD should I get?

Ok, so I've wasted the last week of my life reading about SSDs but instead of being informed I am now just more confused!

I know I want to avoid anything with a jmicron controller so I've been looking at Samsung, G.Skill and OCZ Vertex.

All are a similar price, within £20 or so, but the generation 1 Sammy is much less.

How noticeable a difference would I see in real world usage with a gen1 Samsung vs a gen2? Is it neglible (because SSDs are all about access times) or is it worth spending an extra £50 or so on one of the alternatives I've been looking at?

If you need the throughput (moving large files e.g. video editing) or have lots of money, spend the extra money (consider OCZ Agility too), otherwise the 1st gen Samsung will be far faster than HDDs for regular OS use and will be the one to go for.

I use my computer for quite varied tasks - when working I have many web pages open, as well as Skype and various IM clients. By day I'm very much a gamer.

I certainly don't do any kind of video editing so I don't think throughput is too important is it?
