I've got a beefy laptop (Aspire V3-772G i7-4702MQ 2.2Ghz, 32GB) that I use as a mobile server and mainly use it for creating and trashing VMs with the need to run 4 or 5 VMs at a time. I'm used to running SSDs at home so the speed of the drives in the laptop is getting on my nerves a bit. I'd like to retain on of the ones below for mass storage and replace the other with a 500GB SSD. Alternatively, I came across the Samsung portable USB 3.0 SSDs recently. Would the performance of the portable SSD come anywhere close to an internal 2.5 SSD?
