I have been putting off buying an SSD for ages now so its about time I took the plunge. Im really not sure what to go for at the moment, I would like to have 240gb for my main drive. I don’t know if I should get a 240 or run two 120’s in raid. I really don’t have any clue about how these drives compare so I was hoping to get a bit of advice on what would be the best bang for the buck.

Just done the same, SSD for the 1st time and the Samsung 830 256GB drive was recommended. 1 day in and very pleased with it.

I think SSDs in RAID are quite tricky to set up properly, a single SSD is fast enough by itself, I doubt you'd notice the difference between a 240Gb SSD and two 120Gb's in RAID in everyday usage. I got myself a Samsung 830 128Gb, so the 256Gb like the poster above would be great.

Did you use the SSD on a new build or on your current PC? If it was on your current PC, how did you move the OS? Did you use Norton Ghost to clone it, or did you just do a fresh reinstall? Thanks :)

Hmm not sure, I'd probably wait a while to get some more reviews coming in (and also time to ensure reliability) before buying one, for the time being the Samsung 830 seems to be best value in terms of reliability and speed. Also looks very nice too, I think I'm going to mount mine on top of my hard drive cage rather than inside it- just so I can show it off through the side window :)
