Been looking around for a second hand SSD drive 128GB.

I was told to get a Samsung Evo is it?

I have found a Crucial M4 for £55 second hand which is temping. Are these worth buying?

45-55 sounds about right for a second hand 128gb m4 although £55 is too close to brand new prices of the samsung evo for my liking, yea they are great had one over a year been rock solid never skipped a beat and this one was second hand.

I think the crucial M4's have been surpassed a bit now in terms of speed, but still worth getting on a good second hand deal.

I am satisfied with mine and I am only on sata 2 so my speed is only 280 ish so 500 ish must be even better.

Not sure on the benchmarks but I'd imagine most people aren't going to notice 500mb sec vs 550 mb sec.

I dont think it is always worth buying something which is really so cheap. I feel there will be some catch in these deals. To me, reliability matters first & pricing is secondary. The only contender who has impressed me in terms of reliability is only sandforce based SSDs like corsair force series.

Sandforce drives do have a history of "issues".

That's not to say that the latest drives are unreliable.

Samsung drives (with their own ARM based controller) are now a very popular choice and competitively priced. They perform well and I`ve not experienced or heard of any reliability issues. Performance is also very good, even with incompressible data (unlike Sandforce drives).

+1

corsair force gt (red ones) are good

I agree with wazza300. To me when it is comes to data, I do not think of price. Because data is priceless! Having said this, sandforce is a clear winner in terms of assurances & to keep up the same. Friends I would advice always do not go by the statistics/benchmarks. They might be false at times.
