Hi all, sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have searched the forums and can't work it out. What SSD will fit into the slot on my laptop? Would this one fit? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT1000P1SSD8-Solid-State-Drive/dp/B07J2Q4SWZ
I have a Medion Akoya P6677 MD60747 MSN30023184 laptop with a 1tb HDD. I'd like to add a SSD. There is a a slot on the motherboard which I think is for a SSD (pics attached)
I can't find out what the motherboard is. There's no detailed specification on the Medion website.
The first pic is a view of the motherboard with the SSD slot near bottom right. Second pic is of the SSD slot.

You can tell the Crucial site the make and model of the laptop (I just checked and it's on there). It'll then show compatible upgrades.

If their search is correct it only supports SATA M.2 drives. The one you've linked (breaking forum rules in the process) is an NVMe drive and probably won't work.

Thanks Bremen, I looked at the one on the Crucial website, but the one they suggest seems to have a different number of pins to the one on my laptop.

The keying on the SSD they suggest and the laptop socket will allow the drive to fit.

If it will accept NVMe drives I don't know why Crucial wouldn't be offering one as an option.

Information on that laptop is a bit scarce so it is a bit of a guessing game. FWIW my laptop only accepts SATA M.2 drives and has that kind of socket keying.

Thanks Bremen. I just rang the Medion customer support (should have done that first).
They said my laptop takes M.2 NVMe 2280. Is that all the details I need to make a purchase?

Assuming what they've told you is accurate, the drive you originally linked is correct.

M.2 is the form factor.
NVMe (or SATA) is the interface.
2280 is the physical length.

That's great, thanks. You've been really helpful. Would you say that 250gb or 500gb is enough to store Windows 10 and some games? I've still got the HDD for movies etc.

500GB should be plenty for Windows and a few games. Look at how much space you're using at the moment and decide based on that.

I'd be looking to fill that empty memory slot. You only appear to have 4GB of memory which is a bit low nowadays.
