A friend in work has recommended me to read some of stephen king books and has said to start reading either:

It or Salems Lot

Ive seen the film It and enjoyed it, but the book is apparently very very good although very long to read.

Salems lot is about vampires i believe, but that all i know, so im undecided which books out of these 2 to download for my kindle?

Im sure there are many Stephen King fans on these forums thats why im posting this question.

My favourite King book is The Stand but that is seriously long. For a quicker read I would recommend The Dark Half or Misery or for a mid length how about Needful Things.

Thanks guys ive downloaded both The Stand and Salems Lot, ill give It a read another time, i remember watching The stand and even though the film is old i enjoyed the story of the film a lot.

I suspect The Stand is a lot more in depth compared to Salems Lot.

I will start to read Salems Lot and prepare myself for an epic read for The Stand, cant believe i haven't read any of Stephen King books in the past.

Thanks for your suggestions

Just finished Under the Dome and was a little bit disappointed. Great idea but didn't seem to build on it. I enjoyed It and The Stand is on my list of books to read.

It, The Stand, Salem's Lot, Bag Of Bones...I have most of King's books and these are great.

As an alternative to King, look up James Herbert. Similar style from a British writer, but they are easier reading.

Enjoy!

IT is very good but long
The Stand is very good but long
Christine is very good but long

See a theme here? For shorter reads try Salems Lot, Cujo, The Shining, Misery and Pet Semetary.

As stated the stand (the extended one) is most definitely the best. As an introduction I would recommend different seasons.

Anyone else enjoy "The eyes of the dragon"?
I havent read that one for years, I might have to buy it again:D

Oh, and "The long walk" writing as Richard Bachman was another favourite.
