Which switch?

Somewhat in the market for a new keyboard, after spilling drink into my BlackWidow it hasn't been the same

Just don't want to change from blues and not like them, any ideas how I could try out the different types before I buy? Damn downsides to Internet shopping :(

I popped into a popular high street pc shop recently on the off chance that they'd have some on display, and the did have a Razer Blackwidow to try out.

I always put off buying a mech board because I've never tried any of the switches. Not sure where to try them..

DSR.

Good to see Cherry are still the masters. Had one since the early to mid 90s - when the connector was a 5 pin din (although it actually came with a PS/2 and then an adapter, so when PS/2 became the norm it was ready to go!). After about 15 years a couple of the switches wore out and Cherry sent replacements FOC.

Don't use it any more becasue I never found a decent USB to PS/2 adapter, but now use the modern equivalent.

I have the same issue, would love a good mechanical board but don't want to spend £100 on a good one and not like it. Doubt any of the local stores will have any on display.

OcUK should set up a 'mechanical keyboard trial pack' sort of thing. For, say, £10 + a deposit & Shipping they send you 4 keyboards, one of each key type, for you to use for a week to test them out, before you return them and get the deposit back. This way you get to try out the different keyboards in real world action rather than standing in a shop and just poking at the keys without being able to actually try them out gaming or anything like that. The deposit should cover people nicking the keyboards (Plus you have their details anyway), and it would just be the same set of keyboards so you wouldn't loose much in stock. You could even B-Grade/DSR returned keyboards as these trial ones, perhaps.

Probably a terrible idea! :D

Filco with cherry browns all the way. I tried reds but didn't like action for general typing which I do a lot of for work.

Sucks that the only cherry-brown keyboards you have are those horrible looking zowie ones. Pastel blue or pink is a bit too metrosexual for me thanks.
You should try and get some filco's in. Their majestouch-Ninja keyboards (either full or 10keyless) are bloody fantastic. http://www.gev.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/majestouch-ninja_800.jpg

Might have to go balls to the wall and try out one of these mechanical keyboards, CM Storm QuickFire Pro (Red switch) is looking tempting, can anyone recommend? I'd like a price of £80 or less really.

I think they should have a filter option on the keyboards for the switch type, so you can see all the keyboard that have black, red, blue & brown without having to go though the lot of them :D

Just bought an MK-50, wasn't happy paying an extra £40/50 for back lighting. This better be a nice keyboard or I'm going to have to recreate that part of Wanted down in the Overclockers store.
