which synology nas

Looking into replacing or adding my nas collection. Primary use is for Logitech media server for three squeezeboxes. Not tanscoding or anything like that.

Maybe a second hand older model.

Existing qnap is TS 209-II which is a bit sluggish especially when scanning. It's not too bad for squrezebox just needs a bit more oomph as compared to Sonos speed it is behind. Newest LMS support would be good as only have 7.7.5 on the qnap, 7.9 has faster scanning speed.

I have a DS218j, as a media / fileserver without transcoding I find it perfect. we also have a DS218+ at work, but this would be overkill and a waste of cash for the straight fileserver use case.

Think I'll go for the 218. Not the Plus or Play edition.
