My parents are interested in buying a tablet. They are mostly going to use it for browsing and iPlayer.

I have the nexus 10, wife has the iPad, so I was originally going to recommend the iPad air based on build quality. But upon researching iPads I realised they don't support multiple users, which sounds like it could be a pain.

So my questions.
1 is sharing on the iPad going to be difficult? I thought about multiple email apps. But I think this is too much of a hassle.
2 are there any other tablets I should consider alongside the nexus 9?

Thanks

After a bit of research ive been looking at 3 android tablets. Samsung galaxy tab s, sony z2 and nexus 9.
The differences between the tab s and z2 seem pretty minimal... Any further comments before the plunge?

Well...I've had so many tablets I can't even count any more...ipads and android...

Thing I've come to the conclusion of, it doesn't really matter if its about consumption...just get the best value for money.

I've settled on a Note 10.1 (can be had for around £240 refurb). Screen is great, battery is fine, and does actually work for productivity...which pretty much no other tablet does.

For pure consumption, you can pick up the Tab Pro 10.1 for about £210 new (this week black friday deals)... they'll be more than happy

I had exactly this recently and got a Tab S 10.5 because the screen is just that good. You can get one for £330 ish with rebate + offer at pcworld right now. I was comparing the S vs the Z2 and the N9 too and in the end the performance is roughly the same (the tab s is likely the weakest btw) so i based it on other items like screen size (it will be used a lot for netflix), I'm a bit old hat and like the physical home button too :/ The nexus 9 is pretty much the same price bracket and considering what it offered vs the tab S I thought the samsung device was a better deal, assuming you know how to remove all that GOD AWFUL samsung pre-installed rubbish.

My god samsung, stop with the preloading.

The truth is you'll be fine with any of them. The Sony is a really nice piece of kit (I use this at work and an iPad) and their support is top notch. The nexus I don't have first hand experience with but reviews were mixed on sites I trust. Multi user is helpful but multi mailboxes usually are an OK workaround for most. I wouldn't fully discount the ipad, it's a nice piece of kit.

Thanks for the replies. How easy is it to remove all the Samsung customisations?
As I've always owned nexus devices I've never needed to!

Just hit me none of them will have lollipop (bar the nexus). Bit of a shame.

Ruled out the iPad. Maybe if they did a 32gb version. 16gb too low, and 64gb too expensive.
Will check them out in the flesh over the weekend
