Just installed me E8400 yesterday and all is fine running at 3.6ghz so far and I'll trying for around 3.8ghz-4.0ghz later once the cpu has settled down after a few days. Anyways, I've checked the temps using the following:

Bios 37c
reatemp 36c-38c
coretemp 41c-43c
speedfan 33c-29c

I know theres not a lot between them all (but I reckon speedfan is a bit optimistic) but which one do ppl reckon is the closest?
Intel thermal analysis tool won't work at all, but I reckon that'll show a good 10c-15c higher than all the others.

The difference *may* be down to the TjMax setting each of the apps uses (if they are different then the reading will be different).

As for which is "correct" - as far as I am aware (and I may be wrong - I usually am) Intel have not 100% catagorically confirmed what the TjMax values are :S

Personally I always use RealTemp and Everest :D

Hope this helps

Odd, for me realtemp and coretemp give the same result whereas speedfan is a whole 12 C above, almost indefinately. My bios won't tell me the temperature (failboard) :(.
So I suppose its just as TB said. I think speedfan presumes that the actual temperature will be more than it picks up, and probably attempts to keep you safe and not fry anything. Though I say that, it doesn't seem to know about any nForce chipset newer than nForce 2.
