The most common opty 165 steppings are:

CCB1E 0550 VPMW, CCWBE 0547 TPMW, CCBWE 0536 MPMW, CCBWE 0546 MPMW, CCBWE 0550 UPMW

non of these and I mean non have managed 3ghz! some manage 2.5 with the best on high ish voltages seem to manage 2.8ghz max, average seems to sit around 2.6ghz

the early week 30s such as the CCBWE 0534 SPMW are the closed to getting to 3 ghz. the fact is if you have an identical stepping with both the 165 or 170 it will always overclock better in the 170, the week 50 upmw is a good example of this.

why the heck I'm arguing about a coupe of 100mhz i'll never now lol

lol

mines CCBWE 0534 SPMW.

nice research :) good one

2.8-3ghz here i come :D

I wish my Gskill HZ did 300 mhz

the fact is the optys clock better than the x2 4400's.

yeah but yours is a 170 not 165, world of difference! what’s you batch number 50xxx?? from that you can more accurately tell what it will do. with the early week 34s the 170s got the higher batch numbers and the 165's got the 1st batch which performed very well. if its a low number it will over clock well. cant be to low as it would then be a 165. would be interested to know your batch number.

Early 165 do well later week ones don’t see to do quite as well no matter what stepping they are, 170s are the complete reverse

Well good luck with it easyrider, I'm sure we won't be able to wipe that grin off your face once you hit 3GHz. :D

I think you've already stated that regarding the 4400s.

NO!

my opty won't do 3ghz.

2.8ghz maybe on air.

My point being that if getting a dual core.Best get a 170 for 15 quid more than x2 4400.

I'm at low vcore @2.6ghz but call me sad i'm playing nfs at the mo!

once i finish this 170 is getting thrashed

just liking fx60 speed for nout :p

still not sure what you mean?

with this much knowledge makes your remark about the oc 3800 puzzling

how about saving 100 bucks over a 170 and grabbing a 3800+ ?

3-ghz-X2.jpg

it maybe a cache cut toledo core (manchester) but some still overclock ;)

still confused

guarantee me that the 165 doesnt crap out at 2.6ghz which a lot do and then I would have it over a 2.8ghz manchester 3800+, double the cache is only = to the extra performance you get from 150-200mhz more clock speed, dont forget that m8 ;)

lol :D

I'll get my coat

no cpu is guaranteed :)

not with dual core no, I've run 3ghz but wouldnt run it 24/7 due to temp issues. watercooling would have course solve my problem.
prime95 simply puts to much heat into the cpu after a 30min torture test at 3ghz and higher vcore.
