Which to get next Friday - Resident Evil 5 or Batman: Arkham Asylum?

RE5 is meh and nowhere near as good as the way the older games played, it's just a mediocre action game with a clunky shooting mechanic, like 4. Not scary at all, no longer a survival horror.

Batman is great though, it's 10x the game RE5 is!

sorry but resident evil 4 is one of the best action games ever.

It is? I must have been playing a different version then. I found it a pile of utter rubbish. The only reason I ever got it was due to me loving RE1 and 2. This is so far from those games it's untrue.

Generic, bland, third-person shooter I would call it.

I personally thought RE4 was one of the best games of it's generation, certainly on the consoles anyway, having played it on the GC on release. Still have fond memories of it now and would place it high.

Bit worried about RE5 though, as a friend of mine that went even more mental over 4 than me was disappointed with 5 on the XBox. But for £17 I should at least get a few hours enjoyment out of it and the benchmark did look lush running at 1080p. :)

Depends if you want multiplayer or not. I would go with Batman as I did not like RES5 at all since it was a disappointment compared to RES4 which was awesome. Although, if you're a hardcore Batman fan like me then you know which one to pick. ;)

RE5 is very good.

I can see why some do not like it but as a game is contains elements of the following: MGS4, Gears Of War1, God Of War 1 & 2, RE4. The whole game is very polished and well coded with some very movie like presentation but without the usual slowdown and laggy gameplay.

The entire game is only 21 levels long so first time you play it on SP will probably take under 10 hours. However, thats only less than 25% of the gameplay available as you need to complete the more challenging Hard & Pro gameplay modes which is where the co-op play comes into effect as part of the gameplay mechanic is that you cannot ever run & shot so all combat is when your static aiming your weapon. This allows for some very tense gameplay moments if you chose the AI co-op partner or a gaming friend either way it adds up to another 50% of the game. Then when you have completed all SP gameplay modes (with or without human AI in co-op) you still need to collect certain objects like gems, figurines (of ingame characters) & STARS badges which are important as they allow you to unlock infinite weapons later on which are essential to complete the hardest gameplay modes. After all of that on SP you still have around 25% of the No Mercy modes which are 8 maps where you have to survive a certain time & kill a certain number of zombies this sounds easy but the reality is that you will be playing a good 30 hours plus as on each level (which is taken from the main game maps) you need to fight a certain way its not just shoot to kill sometimes you need to time when you hit exploadable objects to kill mini bosses (some are very hard to kill but kill you with 1 hit). The online leaderboards (via GFWL) save your scores but just as importantly each level you get a high rating on gives you more unlockables like costumes, weapons & characters etc etc and you can only progress to the next hardest level after completing the early ones.

All in all I spent around 100 plus hours on the 360 version in march this year which was around a solid months gameplay. So if any of that interests you
RE5 is the PC game to get next week along (with Batman AA of course but the gameplay time on BAA is not going to be anywhere near as lenghty as RE5 so if your on a budget RE5 will take much longer to play).

RE5 sold something like 5M plus on 360 + PS3 so your in good company if you do enjoy it :D

Err, yeh, think you know which one i'd choose :p .
