Trying to decide on a second HDD for my system, will most likely be installing games/ storing and streaming hd movies and the like.

I've brought it down to two different HDD's:

Which one would you guys recommend? I hear good things about Western Digital, but I have a great relationship with Samsung products, including my current Samsung HDD, all work flawlessly.

Will I get better performance out of the Western digital HDD or should I pot for the Samsung?

Thanks in advance guys!

Paul Smith.

The Samsung F3 is much faster than the WD Green. The F3 is made for maximum speed, while the Green aims for power efficiency, quietness and value.

A WD drive with performance comparable to the F3 is this WD Black 1TB. A very nice drive and comes with a 5 year warranty (albeit a bit more expensive).

Samsung SpinPoint F3 - Good performance, runs pretty cool and quiet, good for OS, running games from etc...

Western Digital Caviar Green - Quiet, cool, low power usage, but not great performance...no real use to put OS on, use for storage, also if I was buying a "green" HDD, I would buy the Samsung EcoGreen F2...

Thanks guys, I was leaning towards the Western Digital, but all that dynamic spin speed and not being able to find it's seek time kind of put me off a little, going to go with the trusty Samsung. =)

Thanks again.
