Which tool for the job?

Thinking of easier ways of doing this, I had an idea of simply removing the side of the reel and attaching something else to use as a base. We have a cheap garden table which I could use the frame to attach to the top. Alternatively, anyone have any ideas for a base/stand that would go well with this type of top?

Is the deck already built?

If not, put it where you want it to live and build the decking around it.

Might not be best solution if you ever want to move the table in the future mind....

With that thickness it would be incredibly difficult to get a clean, accurate cut with anything other than a router.

Well if he leaves a few mil of space from where he wants it and sands it down I can't see a problem, perhaps find some suiting beading and use that around the rim so it blends in.
