Which TV do you own?

Current...

1) Plasma
2) Pioneer PDP-5000EX 50" 1080p job...
3)
Good - big screen, full HD support, SD and HD material looks good, 2x HDMI + 1x DVI and no speakers (hurrah! - why pay for something I dont want)
Bad - can buzz a bit on bright material, highly compressed SD channels (such as ITV) dont look too good

Past...

1) LCD
2) Sharp LC52XD1E
3)
Good - big screen + cheap price
Bad - theres a reason its cheap... bad banding problems + colour leakage + SD material looks terrible...

1) Plasma
2) Panasonic 42" something or other...
3) Good - excellent picture
Bad - some slight PSU buzzing and weighs a ton... oh and only 1x HDMI

1) Plasma
2) Panasonic PX60 42"
3) Seems pretty good, clear bright images for when not using the projector.

Got a couple of these and i'd definately get another, i think there is a new model out now too.

Had a 46" Sony Bravia 1080p LCD.

Pic quality on Sky and normal DVD's was absolutely arse. Pixalation everywhere and did'nt realise that LCD was incapable of 'True black' before I bought one. It was promptly advertised for sale on a particular auction site and sold for nearly what I paid for it.

Next door neighbour had an LG 50" plasma with no such issue so I've purchased one. Ok the res is only 1366x768 but there is no Pixalation at all, and the picture quality all round is far far superior to that of any LCD I have seen. No response time issues, no blurring of fast images and it was £700 less than the Sony.

Avoid LCD, buy plasma would be my advice.

I thought it was common knowledge that the image quality is far short of their plasma rivals?

Where LCD's are nice is the fact that they dont get hot, dont use as much power, and are usually much lighter and thinner. I dont care about that stuff hence me always having plasma's, but i guess some people must.

1) LCD
2) Samsung 32" R41BXD (I think)
3) No pixalation, good refresh (cant notice it anyway) and no problem with fast action, had this set for about 18 months and has been a great purchase- easily worth £700 approx

Two things infuriate me (both pretty tiny for the price)

1) volume takes an age to turn fully down when I want to use ext amp for a movie (mute leaves an icon on screen)
2) Input select isnt automatic apart from scart - would have been nice for hdmi source to automatically select the right input without manual intervention.

1) LCD
2) LE40M86BD
3) Had it a Day very good, although didn't want to work with an indoor digital aerial.

1) LCD

2) Samsung Bordeaux LE32R74BDX

3) Good screen, very nice bezel. Good all rounder for an average user. Used in a bedroom so size seems perfect for me :)

Had my JVC LT32DX7BJ for 15 months now when it first came out and been very happy with it :)

the good plenty of connections, sound is great, picture is superb (dispite normal lcds draw backs) does everything i want it to 360,mediapc,skyhd,normal sky, freeview and have my main pc hooked up to it also and has plenty of picture tweaks inc backlight adjustment and 3 pre sets per channel.

the bad erm ..about the only thing im dissapointed with is the fact picture in picture does not do tv and pc connection at the same time not a big problem but a niggle non the less and the other bad thing is its not a 1080i/p native res but i can live with that till it blows up or i get bored of it :p

1. LCD
2. Samsung LE26R87
3. Good points: good picture and cheap, upscaled DVD playback looks good and so does HTPC output. Bad points: sound quality isn't great (but easily fixed with external speakers), menus can be a bit slow and its freeview tuner isn't as good as my old Sony set top box.

1. LCD
2. Samsung LE32R87
3. Pretty much the same as above although the menus seem faster on this one than the 26 inch model.

1. LCD
2. Samsung 26" ... not sure of the model but it pre-R74
3. Good points: a lot faster to respond to the remote than the newer versions, better PIP options too. Bad points: no built in freeview, some ghosting due to older slower panel, no HDMI, and its VERY heavy.
(being replaced by the 32" R87)

1. CRT
2. Sony 21" Trinitron Nicam 4:3
3. Good points: well it works. Bad points: erm, its a 21" 4:3 CRT ...
(being replaced by the 26" R87)

:)

edit: i should say that i've had the 26" R87 for about a week and a half but the 32" R87 only came this morning (at 07:20 which was really uncalled for). DVD upscaling source is a Samsung HD870 ... which has probably the worst remote control and interface that i have come across in a long time ....

1) Plasma
2) Panasonic TH42PX70PED
3) Good and bad points about owning a Plasma. The good is that the picture quality is fantastic when playing games on my Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, DVDs are a treat too in either HD or Blu-ray format. I also have a "normal" DVD player and again it looks great on the 42" screen.
Bad is of course screen burn, I play a lot of Pro Evolution Soccer on my 360 and the TV has started to show "burn" marks of the score board etc that are always in the exact same place when playing footy matches. I have to turn all these off now to play the game. Rather annoying :( Sometimes wish I had LCD but nevermind...

1.) LCD

2.) Samsung 40" LE40R88BD

3.) V.happy with my new LCD, the design in no way is a compramise on the quality of this unit. Only 1080i but if your like me and only keep a tv for about 2yrs then its not the end of the world!!

3XHDMI and 8000:1 contrast a deserving upgrade!!

1) Plasma

2) Panasonic PHD6

3) Love it, have not found a screen i would replace it with, was very expensive at the time but easily one of my best purcahses.

1. LCD/Plasma

2. Samsung LE26R74BDX/Panasonic TH42PX60

3. Samsung- Great all round TV, HD excellent, PC excellent, sound not too good
Panasonic- Great for Sky, terrestrial, DVD etc, not yet got round to testing HD though.

1) LCD
2) Sony Bravia KDL-52X2000
3) Has excellent performance with all HD sources I have put through it (BBC1 HD, PS3 Games, BD, Upscaled DVD), good black levels and vibrant colour. Also its a dead sexy looking set and has a well rounded set of features and connections.

Like all LCD's (and Plasma's for that matter), SD performance is a mixed bag and can range from good on well encoded channels to poxy on badly encoded ones, overall I find this set offers more than acceptable SD pictures for the material I am watching.

My only gripe with it, is that it only accepts 1080p through HDMI, which isn't really a problem so far but could be a limitation in the future maybe.
