Looking for opinions on duvets, sleep & bed being the nice place it is! :D

Pondering a new one, but undecided between down / feather or microfibre never mind the best mix of feather & down! :p

Prehaps a poll? - I know this could well be regarded as a
Home and Garden section topic, but I'd much prefer the GD forums take on this important issue!

Opinions appreciated!

Goose down is what my duvet contains. Rocking the 10.5 tog rating. Super comfy.

Edit - Mine is a mix of feather and down, was from debenhams if you are interested, its got separate stiched chambers so the feathers don't all clump in a pile at the ends.

Never been a fan of the expensive Goose/Duck ones.

Moving into a new flat this week and just gonna get one of the mid range (non goose/duck) ones from tesco. Does it fine :)

rocking the 13.5 tog goose/down mix.

best thing i purchased in a while after the toilet paper bedding we had before.

go for it, you will be toasty but its to hot for summer so keep the old one for then and have it cleaned :)

Gone with your suggestion (eBay) thanks. :)

Cotton is pretty damn good, relatively cheap.

Silk, wool, cotton are the more natural/breathable types of duvet covers, and bedding in general.

I had a silk/polyester mix which was okay but not great, then one of my cats decided to pee on it to the point where the smell wouldn't come out. Tried wool next, better, warm, heavy for the weight/heat though, but breathable and nice.

I went Cotton after that from D&PW, didn't pay much, might have been in the sale. It's light, but for the lightness/thinness of it it's crazy warm, but now use a bedspread(also cotton, also a great deal) over it for winter.

Cotton is easily my favourite now, weird man made materials tend to leave me sweating at night, overheating, not as good. Silk is supposed to be awesome but my cheapo part silk thing was a bit meh. A proper all silk duvet is supposed to be great but costs a bomb. The thing cotton duvet is fantastic for summer and breathes great when it's very warm, and is fine really in winter, but a thin layer on top gives it a little extra warmth on very cold nights.

I don't mind feather/down stuff, but can be fairly heavy to be really warm and too warm in summer.

Loving my new quilt some kind of fibre filling and a really smooth cool feeling outer made of some type of mictofibre, that's all I can say about it tho as I leave that kind of stuff to the gf.

Got a 13.5 Tog Feather and Down, that is super warm and cosy, however so is my house in general (I have the window open about 300 days a year), so that is in a cupboard and I use a 3 Tog Feather and Down throughout the year.

I also have 4 pillows, 2 x 1200G 80/20 Feather/Down as base pillows and then 2 x 80/20 Down/Feather for my head to melt into as a top layer.

Great!

I got mine on ebay also, was around 40 odd quid. I did not think it would be as good as a shop bought 13.5 tog one but it is and i seen the exact same make on the high st and it was much more. You will get it packed tight but once its out and you try pull it up or make the bed each week its a total workout as it expands and plumps out.

First few weeks you will get a few feathers come out, that is normal and will settle down.

Our house is a fridge and it has made it really nice and not cold in bed anymore but i can see it being way to hot in late spring.
