Wifeys car needs a new tyre. All round are 195/50 R16 84V ContiPremium Contact 2.

I can't find the same tyre, so am looking at:

Continental UltraContact. CONTINENTAL 195/50R16 88V XL FR ULTRACONTACT

Anyone able to advise if this is the correct tyre before I go ahead and order?

Why wouldnt they be? wife a pro race car driver? she needs specific tyres on the car?

Because 3 tyres are contact 2's and this would be a ultra contact. All 4 should be the same. I just want to know if the ultra is the correct and safe tyre to buy.

No, they don’t have to be. I’ve got Goodyears on the rear and a Bridgestone and Michelin on the front because that’s just how things have worked out with punctures and finances.

As long as you don’t have a premium brand on one corner and a ditchfinder on the other you don’t have to worry from normal daily driving. Roughly equal tread depth is far more important.

for me personally , 1 brand on the front and 1 brand on the back is "ok" but on different corners ? id never do that, always same tyres in pairs

Ideally I’d have the same all round, and as you say the same on each axle as a minimum, but having a puncture and no spare meant getting whatever a garage had in range of my run flat. They’re all premium and I drive like a grandad so I’m not too concerned…

Surely at this point, that’s the official tyre thread

It kind of implies there was an official tyre thread at some point!

The meta at the time was that anything "official" was supposedly OCUK-sanctioned and certain people didn't like that, so instead of doing the sane thing and just calling it the thread title, they added "Unofficial" because... low IQ? This forum is full of bizarre culture memes like that.
