We should really have a proper tyre thread to save us spamming up the motors section with tyre threads....

Anyway, i am ready for new tyres as my fronts are only just legal now.

I am looking for some tyres what are very good in the dry and good in the wet.

So which of these do i need to order:

Toyo T1R's
TOYO PROXES PX4
HANKOOK K110
FALKEN FK452

These are all around the same price (£63). Going to get 2 this month and 2 next month.

I know Toyo's are praised around here but i have heard they are best for big cars and not so good in the wet?

Cheers

last time i checked michelin pilot exalto 2's had dropped in price.

i like T1-R's my only problem with them is my 172 eats a front set in about 5,000 miles, i get 15k out of PE2's that have a much stiffer sidewall and a good bit more grip.

toyos are good for the price though, i actually find them alright in the wet!

I had the Hankooks on my GTi-6, I felt they were an ok choice - seemed to cope well, although i never pushed them too hard.

Running the Falkens in that size. Good grip in the dry, average in the wet, completely hate any form of standing water, no matter how shallow it is!

Just had the Toyo T1-R's replaced on my little diesel Clio (185/55/15) after 28k miles. Have been a really good tyre, no scary moments. Have gone for the Hankook K115 this time as they were in stock and i was down to the wear marks on 2 of the tyres. Will see how they go.

Ah, just bought the Toyo T1-R's. Can't be arsed to keep looking about.

Anyone ever bought tyres from Camskill? Never had such a annoying checkout....

Can I hijack this thread without making a new one? :)

Going to need new front tyres very soon - basically as soon as all my insurance issues are sorted.

Problem is, my rears are Contisport 3's and I have noticed that these are difficult to get hold of now. What should I get for the front?

We sell only Toyo's at work, Bosses swear by them.

They are a soft compound so don't last that long but that does make them really good in the dry.
In the wet they are extremely good compared to other makes.

Basically why we sell them. :D

Edit* Ahh you've already bought them. LOL Oh well. :D

I loved having my Toyo T1-Rs. The grip in the dry was excellent.

Can't comment on the others.

A friend of mine has urged me to go buy some Uniroyal Rainsports for a better all round tyre for the UK. They're next on my list. Think they're only a little bit more?

I wouldn't.
I test drove a BMW Z4 Coupe with Rainsports on and was sliding all over the place.
Ok, it was raining and the car has 265bhp, but that's only 30bhp more than my Z3 Coupe and it takes a damn sight more right foot to get the back out in the wet with my Michelin PilotSports.
