Which Vodafone Plan?

I am due an upgrade but frankly my N95 8Gb is excellent and nothing tempts me bar the N97, which apparently now wont appear until June.

I am currently paying £45 a month for 750 minutes, unlimited internet and unlimited texts. I no longer need the minutes, infact I could quite happily do with as little as 200 minutes a month, but the unlimited internet and text messages are important to me.

Is there a plan I can swap down to? The Vodafone site is a pain as all the plans listed are 'new customer' promotional plans with various length contracts. Obviously this doesn't apply to me as I simply wish to change talkplan.

Is there something for about 25 quid a month that would suit my needs?

The site is a total pain in the arse. Add a phone here, add a plan, change this if you want a different plan, if you want unlimited internet then it's 5 pound a month if you commit but 7 pound otherwise. Christ what a headache.

I'm tempted by an HTC Magic, but it's not looking good because, if Vodafone business can't even sort out my companies' problems, then what must their consumer customer service be like?

Not a massive help but Im paying £35 a month for 600 minutes, unlimited text messages and unlimited internet with the Samsung Omnia free of charge. That was as a new customer however.

Cant you cancel it at the end of your current term, start as a new customer and ten claim £90 back through quidco?

Having just gone through the annoyance of upgrades etc myself (wouldn't recommend it to anyone :)), you could always go sim free (assuming at end of contract) and go for something like 600mins unlimited text (rolling 30 day contract) for 20 quid and then add on the £5 internet/email package. I'm no 100% certain that the internet package would be done on sim only deal but iirc its 7.50 on a month to month basis, so worse case scenario 27.50 (minus the 2.5% vat bit)

Since you are happy with the phone you have I'd go with sim only as said above, £20 for 600 mins and unlimited texts plus some extra for unlimited internet. Alternatively go with T-Mobile who do 600 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £20.

My sister was happy with her phone so after a lot of persuasion (I do mean a lot - they really didn't want to do it!) Vodafone moved her over to one of their SIM only tariffs at the end of the contract.

They do £15/month for 300 mins and unlimited texts or £20/month for 600 mins and unlimited texts, and I think mobile internet is £7.50 a month.

im on voda sim only

it was before they stopped the family and friends offer.

so im on 200 mins ( ithink) 1000 texts, family and friends, + 5 pound internet thing. for £20 a month

you can do £5 internet on the sim only, well i am! a rep told me before i took it out it would be 7.50 however when i added it at the end of my first month the guy on the phone said it'd be a fiver

Threaten to leave and try to negotiate a good deal.

I pay £42.50 / month for 1000 any time minutes (rollover), 100 text, unlimited data, insurance with a free Omnia.

I know the text sounds low but I have a £15 p/m contract with unlimited texts and a free E71 (no minutes though unfortunately :( )

If you speak to retentions, you can usually get a good deal out of them

I've just called them and got nowhere. I'm eligable for upgrade as I am now 15 months into an 18 month contract but I don't want an upgrade - I simply wish to downgrade my plan without signing a new contract.

The 'best' they could offer me was £40 a month. On their website they've got a deal for 'new customers' for £20 a month with unlimited SMS and 200 minutes. This is ideal for me but apparently i can't have it

Confusing. I just want to slash my minutes and halve my bill until June when the N97 comes on, when I'll be happy to ramp it back up again.

I thought it would be as simple as simply ringing and requesting a tariff change

I cant do that until Month 18 though? It's not a big deal but I see little point in basically throwing away £75 over the next 3 months paying for 750 minutes I don't need and won't use :(

vodafone have the nokia 5800 with 600 mins and unlimited text and internet for £25 a month. I renewed to this deal 2 weeks ago.

You can reduce your tariff by £5 a month. I was in a very similar scenario to you - I no longer need the minutes as I only really call through voda family. I went into a store, outlined my issue and they were pretty helpful.

i doubt theyre going to let you do it unless your contracts fully ran out or your a massively valued customer. to them it makes no sense for them to drop your contract price when youve still got a couple months of paying it left :(

could try calling them again and just really stress the point that you want to sign a new contract with them when the n97 comes out but that if they dont help you now then you will get the n97 with another provider.

also when it comes to signing a new contract with them quidco offers 90quid cashback

Not worth the effort for £5 a month though surely?

Well, I'd go in and have a chat with them - their tc's say £5 a month but they managed to reduce mine by £15 in one hit

Walked into a Vodafone shop, walked out 10 minutes later with a £15 a month SIM only plan with a 30 day minimum term.

Result

Good work. I was surprised how much more efficient they were in the shop than online/on the phone. Def my preferred method of engagement now.
