hey everyone :)

I've always been put off with watercooling because of all the different bits needed if you buy separate. Just had a look on OcUK and some of the kits you can buy make things a lot easier. Since my girlfriend bought me a £30 voucher for xmas i'm toying with the idea of getting rid of the Frio and replacing it with the EK-KIT H3O 240 LTX for £144.98.

Just wondering is this the best kit for what i need? Im looking to get my 2500k to 4.8ghz+ with load temps of around 68c if thats possible. At the minute i manage 4.6ghz at 64c load.

Will the 240 rad fit in my 600t and does anyone have any experience with this kit? Whats the maintenance like on W/C kits?

many thanks

Firstly, I think kits are a bad idea because they let people jump in without researching properly.

But here's my opinions on the kit (me taking a quick look at it)

- cpu block is average/below average. Will cool a 2500k fine, but not the best.
-rad thickness (45mm) may be troublesome in the roof of a 600t (which generally sucks for W/C). If it fits (others will confirm) then you will need the fans in the roof.
-fans are likely cheap noisy tat.
-dcp 2.2 is a noisy little pump with no real capability for loop expansion down the road. Can be run off a fan controller to lower the pump speed and therefore noise.

pros - easy to install (installation is the easiest part of watercooling)

achieving 4.8ghz depends on whether the chip can reach that frequency.
Your temp target is achievable with this kit.

Maintenance is the same as all custom water. You need to be vigilant for any signs of leaks (very rare), tubing degradation/clouding, coolant levels. You need to change your coolant regularly according to the manufacturer instructions (and clean out your radiator and blocks at the same time for good measure).

Thanks for the reply.

Well i only need to cool my CPU and i have no intention to ever W/C my graphics card as its fine so adding to the loop is not an issue. What other kits would you recommend for around £120-£160? It needs to be quiet but not silent.

Its not just performance i'm going for, i'd like the space for different types of ram plus i've always wanted to do a water loop :)

how's the XSPC Rasa 750 RX240?

I've just fitted an OC V12 as a newbie and am very happy with the results.

Pretty straightforward to do if you know enough to build your PC in the first place.

this is a great kit, some of the best fans, a fantastic block, a good rad which will fit. just a little above your budget but imo it's superb.

YOUR BASKET
1 x OcUK Tech Lab - V8 Watercooling Kit 240 £130.01
- 1 x Mayhems Ultra Pure H20 Watercooling Fluid 1L £4.99
- 1 x XSPC RayStorm CPU WaterBlock (Intel) £49.98
Total : £196.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Done deal :) I'm just gathering the pennies so ill probably order it in a couple of weeks. Will post up pictures when its done!

Controllers are essential for most wc builds imo :)

+1 for the v8 kit too, the ocuk kits are brilliant since the refresh.

To make the most of the 600t you may also want to consider a 200mm phobya rad for the front.
