Hi everyone, I have been experimenting with which way to mount my CPU cooler, it is an Akasa Venom with single fan, the motherboard is an Asus MATX and case is a Antec 300.
I have found that if the cooler is mounted with the fan at the bottom blowing up and out through the top vent the temperatures are several degrees lower than when it was mounted in the conventional way with the fan blowing out the rear vent.
The problem is with either of these configurations one of the memory slots is covered, so I am limited to 4Gb of ram. What I want to know is has anyone tried mounting a cooler with the fan towards the rear of the case blowing in through the cooler or with the fan again towards the rear of the case sucking air through the cooler and out the rear exhaust.
Either of these last two options would free all memory slots.
Any views greatfully received.
Thanks
46 fan.

I tried the pull only option through my thermalright with it on the same side as the case exhaust fan. I found typically a 3-4C increase in temps over the push option with the fan on the other side of the heatsink.

Hope that helps, andy
