Hello to all and Happy New Year.

I have not been on the OC forum for a long time but this was my first thought in the hope of some advice after you all helped so much when I was building a PC. I am looking to update/replace said PC now (this is a AMD based PC with a 2400 clocked chip which has run rock solid for about 6 years I think) with something for me and my wife. We use PCs for the following:

Wife

web browsing, email, web shopping, Facebook, pictures & videos of the kids

Me

Web browsing, email, spreadsheets, image editing, CAD

I am thinking of moving from the PC to two laptops. I also want to have a decent monitor for me when i am using the Laptop at home. I am interested in MACs really out of curiosity and i have to say looks. I am a bit of a tech head (money permitting) and have had PCs for years so really looking for a bit of a change. I would us my laptop for work and viewing video whilst away with work.

My thought is this:

15" Macbook or PC laptop for my wife (thought the Macbook as she really likes playing with pictures and videos of the kids)

13.3" Macbook Pro for me

22" Dell W2209 monitor

Mac wireless keyboard and mouse

Any thoughts? Would my wife be better with a PC laptop? If so any advice

Thanks in advance

The Mac would be fine for your other half right out of the box with iPhoto (good range of options to touch up photos in it if she wants to, all pretty easy to use)...then iMovie for some easier but effective editing of videos.

What takes most poeple time is just getting used to OSX in general with File handleing etc.

Im willing to bet your Wife gets used to it or ends up preferring it sooner than you do.

I would get your wifes Mac Book first...have it for a week or two, see how yo both get on with it before splashing the cash for everything at once...Apple dont do discounts for bulk buying lol!
