Which web hosting company?

I own my domain and webmail through 123-reg, but they want £47 for one year of hosting on their most basic package, it's advertised as £2.49 a month but they then want a £10 setup charge and loads of vat. :rolleyes:

Isn't it illegal to advertise prices without vat?

So I need reccomendations for a hosting company for my domain, don't need any special features, just want to put up a php website.

vidahost or tsohost are the two you will get reccomended on here. Vida are phenominal n my experience

Only £15 a year! I've been paying £1 a month just for webmail lol. I'm glad I didn't buy hosting from 123 in any case. Thanks guys.

I use both. Each are equally as good. Can't fault either one's service.

Just pick one, honestly.. it doesn't matter which you pick.

Depends how technical you are and how much control you want. http://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/produkte_vserver/vq7 for example gives you root access to your own server for about £6.50 per month allowing you to host multiple websites/domains and put whatever software you like onto it.

Then again, if you just need a basic PHP site, you can get free hosting as long as you stay within some pretty generous limits, as per http://www.000webhost.com/
