Which were your favourite magazines back in the day?

Mean Machines and CVG were my main magazines back in the day, but i used to get the odd issue of US mags Game Fan and EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly).
I’d forgotten about Mean Machines, I think I had a few of those while I had a Mega Drive :)

Your Sinclair was my first intro to gaming magazines, after that I was a Sega kid so Sega Power was my go to for some reason, not sure why I gravitated to that one though.
After that it would be a mix of CVG and the official Playstation magazine, I loved the monthly demo CDs :)

Had an Amiga Format subscription for several years. Got most the issues in the garage, much to the annoyance of the wife.

Read Custom PC for a while but didn't have the same emotional attachment to those so they're probably toilet paper now :)

I read Crash and a couple of others once or twice, but the only one I ever got regularly was Your Sinclair.
Wrote a few letters and some even got published. A friend recently dug out a load of old computer mags, and I was delighted to find some of the same YS issues with my letters.

PC Zone, PC Format and PC Gamer. This is back in the nineties when magazines were the main source for gaming news and reviews. They never released reviews on their websites like they do now, only subscription info. PCZ was my favourite.

I recently picked up an old copy of Pro Evolution Soccer for my Win XP machine. This was a footie game that PCZ championed, as the better footie game over FIFA. First time playing PES and I must admit I agree - it's really good!

I went looking for an archive of GamesTM and found a great site that has that and many many of the magazines mentioned in this thread. Not sure on the attitude of OCUK to this sort of thing though. Anyway, it has what looks like a complete archive of that New Computer Express, that old largely black and white Exchange and Mart type mag, which is great if you like reminiscing on old computer bits adverts. I used to get that back in the day too.

Special Reserve, SNES Force, Official Nintendo Magazine, N64 Magazine and Edge. I'm not saying they were the best but I enjoyed the read.

I struggle to find any decent PC mags on shelves these days, are they only available with subscription based services? I am based in Scotland, maybe larger Newsagents south of the border stock the on shelves?

Too many to list, started off on Spectrum mags with a cover tape but I can't really recall which ones as I was probably 8 or 9 years old. Having a bit of a Google I think it would have been Sinclair User and Your Sinclair.

I then went console so was NES, Gameboy, Game Gear and Mega Drive for many years and all the multi formats like Gamesmaster and Mean Machines.

I recall having the first issue of Total which I thought was amazing, it covered NES and Gameboy and had Steve Jarratt and Andy Dyer featured throughout with them trading insults, it reminds me of Bottom in some ways. Andy was very much like Richie's (Rik Mayall) character, but obviously cleaner.

MM was probably my favourite in later years, the humour and art style appealed to me, I seem to remember the pages having a lovely matt finish too. I'm pretty sure this is where I first saw the Neo Geo which to a 12 year old me was the most glorious, unobtainable device to ever exist. It was almost mythical round our way. Who could possibly have £300 for a single game?!

I used to get pretty much anything that was on the shelf so I can't remember them all.

I do remember PC Format though - that was my goto. Must have been all the cover girls appealing to my teenage brain lol.
PC Gamer now and again.
I even used to buy Computer Shopper and then I'd spend ages coming up with builds after giving myself an imaginary budget lol.
