I will use the 64bit install.

Is W7 home premium good enough for a semi-pc enthusiast?

I have checked the MS site and I am concerned that the XP mode will be of use and that the networking is missing? (My pc is on a home network).

thanks

Home premium includes networking, not convinced about XP mode mate, I went for pro purely for built in backup and remote desktop

Thanks for the reply. Is the shake thingy any good (shake the mouse)?

I do want premium, but the price difference is HUGE!

EDIT: I never did try the RC of win7. Vista is ok but a bit slow.

HP is fine. You'll never use XP mode, it's really for businesses with antiquated bits of bespoke software. There's no networking function missing except for domain joining which you don't need on home networks.

The mouse shake thing is useless. I never use it. Not even at work. As with many of the gimmicks. I just don't use/need them.

As someone said XP mode you most likely will not need and you cant use it for graphics. It's useful to me so I can use IE6 for website testing and Webdav.

You could install VMware which is much better anyway. It supports Linux and is easy to setup.
