Which Wood Would You ?

I've seen "pressure treated timber " its just plain old softwood as a rule

Native to north america? Not here.

It's everywhere in the UK, it's grown for purpose and in the wild. I suppose if you want to be pedantic it's an introduced species but it's grown here for a very long time.

Day one of install looks like

Looking nice! How are the uprights secured to the base? And are the frame connections screwed or bolted? Think I can see both?

Thanks :)

There is a mix of screws and bolts for the frame.

The base is (will be) secured by and angled bracket that is then shrouded by a "skirting" around the base of the leg.

I also got them to sit the legs on a piece of slate patio stone to raise it off the floor / away from standing water and act as a DPM

Have you or are you going to run any power for lights or music?

It would be really nice to sit there chilling in the evening with a starlight mesh in the roof and a patio heater to keep warm .

Yes, a supply from the house to give light / power. The Mrs fancies an electric patio heater but I'm pushing for a chiminea or small log burning stove

Day 3 and the main roof structure is done and the roof timber to form the solid roof started .....

Then the guy I have fitting it was called to his sons school as he'd had a bump, so standstill until Tuesday now really taking shape though !

They returned today and got the roof timbers finished, sheeting installed and the first row of shingles installed on one hip.

Should all be done and dusted tomorrow

Thanks and yes, very impressed

They finished yesterday but was too dark to take pictures. I'll update as soon as I get chance to take some pictures in decent light

Looks good, thanks for the pics.

Because it's so close to the neighbours boundary and presumably over 2.5m are you not meant to have planning permission?

What was the overall cost?I. E.
Pergola cost
Fitting cost
Slab cost?

Thanks and no probs
I'll stay silent on the planning
Cost wise it was
£1000 labour and ancillary materials to extend the existing slab
£500 for the Indian stone for the extended patio
£2815 for the gazebo (on offer)
£800 labour to out the gazebo up
So £5115 to date

It's going to be about £85 for the rainwater goods

Then going to get power to it for sockets and lighting

I also want to enclose the rear and far side with cedar cladding which will be another couple if hundred quid

There's then furniture and possibly a small log burner ....
