I was going to buy an old GPU off a friend of mine, but after some advice on the forums, I've decided to go new instead. Can someone explain which is the better of the two? I don't know much about GPU's and these are both priced exactly the same. I'm going to be playing in 1920x1080 and would like to run my games as high as possible. I'll be playing games like EVE, Fallout 4, Star Wars: Battlefront, SWTOR, ARMA 3 and others.

Toss of coin. If it were me I would go with the strix due to the extra warranty (even if its Asus) and the 0 noise strix cooler when its idle/low loads. If your not overclocking the Sapphire might be better but theres Bearley anything between the two in terms of performance.
