which x58?

Been looking all over for that damn evga classified, I though I missed it being some sort of limited run that was snapped up (credic crunch my ass).

Something I thought of though. Does anyone know (or have an idea) if, when Intel shrinks the i7 (I believe to 32nm) will the current x58s work with those cpus? Not that it is exactly nescesary but I would be less willing to splurge if it wasnt the case. I remember p35s could handle the 45nm cpus when they released after the boards so was just hoping for some clarification.

One last thing. I have a coolermaster V8 cpu cooler, anyone think that northbridge (I think) will get in the way of my cooler? Its a biggin.

Cheers

Martyn

Biostar is awesome.

I have the Rampage II Extreme - its mega. BUT the Biostar is a fantastic board at a fantastic price and overclocks like a dream too - its just not as fancy. We offer it as an overclocked bundle and when I tested it when setting up the bundle I had 4.6GHz out of a 920 on an Akasa Nero air cooler :D

This tbh.

I can vouch for the P6T (standard non deluxe).
Great board, very stable.

No point paying extra for gimmicks, also the standard P6T has slightly different layout to the deluxe or rampage, will happily tri-sli AND leaves space for sound cards et al.

Hi whats the the warranty on gigabyte like , how many years , also is the extreme much better than the UD5

Looking over everything, can't seem to find any warranty info for me Gigabyte, so can only assume it's 12months.

And to be honest, not sure if it's worth going for the more expensive cards, I do doubt there'd be much gained from them.. however I am glad I went for the extreme especially when the difference is less than 1/8th of the cost.

[EDIT]

Seems it's a 3 year warranty, however thats only from what I can find on t'internet, nothing on the packaging anywhere it seems..

the p6t will NOT go tri sli...niether will the rampage 2.....p6t slots are too close to each other to go tri sli.....the rampage 2 has enough space for 3 cards in sli but as i have said before there are certain sockets on the mobo that get in the way so the third socket on the rampage 2 is a no no....

the best boards for tri sli are the EVGA or Gigabyte...i read up on all of these x58 boards before i purchased.....i was going to buy an EVGA in november 2008 but they had a shortage problem so i went for a rampage 2 otherwise i would have had an EVGA,i think they are the best x58 board:)

Just ordered the Gigabyte extreme , almost went for the RE2 but heard on xtreme it can undervolt the ram(that was coming from Corsair Tech) and have been told the gigabyte is 2 year warranty which could be better i suppose but well i have taken the plunge ,first Gigabyte board i have ever had so see how it goes gets good reviews.

..,first Gigabyte board i have ever had so see how it goes gets good reviews.

Ditto on that, was a bit wary going with someone I had never used, but to be fair after this board, I think I'll be looking at Gigabyte stuff a lot more fondly. Would deffo use them again, whereas Asus and I have had a rocky past, with mobos arriving DOA/not fixed etc.

But then no doubt someone has had the same situation with Giga..

Maybe not with the stock coolers, but with water-cooling it's fine - I don't have it running, but I have test-fitted three GTX280's on the vanilla P6T and they fit fine with single slot waterblocks on. There are just enough blanking slots on my case too.

Are you watercooling the northbridge

Hi Mate, your right about the Rampage model but I can assure you the P6T standard (not deluxe) mobo does definetly do tri-sli with no spacing issues for the cards.
