While waiting for the Dell P2715Q, could the Asus PB279Q be an even better alternative?

True but the Asus is AHVA which is known to be better than IPS for lag/G2G time. That is the issue though there isn't many reviews for the two monitors, not that interested myself though, just wanted to give some half decent advice ;)

There is a huge range of IPS panels out there whereas AHVA is a relatively immature technology. The first and most widespread AHVA panel used is the M270DAN01.0. The native responsiveness of that panel is very similar to comparable 2560 x 1440 IPS models. It is up to accessory electronics within the monitor itself, not the panel, to boost that further and ensure low latency.

I speak from experience when I say that both of these UHD models should offer a very similar experience, but the specified response times are utter rubbish and don't paint an accurate picture at all. For pixel performance the most responsive UHD model I've used is the Dell P2415Q, followed by the PB279Q and then those 28" TN models. Exactly the reverse of what the specified response times would suggest.

So, after a rather long wait, I've finally got my hands on the Dell P2715Q.
I've installed it 2 days ago and so far I'm rather pleased with it.

Image quality is, as expected from various reviews, very good.

In terms of game performance, I've only tested it with Elite Dangerous and Alien Isolation so far, it seems to perform very well.

IPS Glow isn't really an issue at all in my opinion. Yeah it's there but it doesn't bother me.
There also is next to no backlight bleed.

There is the issue with the display port sometimes not being recognised which seems a common issue on the P27 and P24. Unplugging the power cord however fixes that. Bit of an odd one but not a deal breaker in my opinion.

Overall, great piece of kit.

For home office & play use this is my first 27".
I've so far stayed below that for practicality reasons. (aka desk space management when running multiple screen setups)
So far most of my work / play has happened on either 1080p or 1440p. (The latter via my Surface, the first via my main machine)
