Whiskey advice

Balvenie is nice too, I seem to remember the 10yold being quite smooth; the 12yold doublewood is always well recommended on here although I haven't tried it myself. I like Laphroag and Talisker but they've got more of a peaty kick.

The glenlivet is my tipple of choice. Smooth, relatively cheap so brilliant for an everyday drink.

PLEASE don't get a Glenfiddich, especially not the cheapest one, tastes like pee. Glenmorangie is a really good choice, too.

Have a look though this site, they seem to have a very very large selection of Whiskys, some from as far back at 1940 which I don't think it too bad for an online shop lol.

Got a good selection of other spirits on there as well.

Online shop indeed! I walk past the place most days, and try to resist going in, would break my detox. 10% discount with an edinburgh Uni "Water of Life" society membership card though ;)

Most of my favourites have been mentioned here already, I think it was Glenmorangie that got me started, I'd agree that the cask conditioned ones are very nice. Recently being enjoying Edradour too, and would agree with the Talisker reccommendations if you're after a rather more potent flavour.

Bonus of living in Scotland is the number of pubs with a very good selection, so you can try out a few without having to go for a whole bottle from a shop.

Laphroaig, Talisker, Langavulin, bowmore, scappa, ardbeg, Caol Ila

Langavulin i had once in a bar here in liverpool called the philharmonic, wasn't taken to it at first as it tasted very much like detol, but now i have a couple of shots of it when im out, i like it.

i vote for bushmills also.
