White Lines Scrolling On Screen

Hi all,

Just got my new rig up and running yesterday and have started gaming on it. I've been playing Metro 2033 and it appears as though there is white lines scrolling up the screen. It doesn't appear to be doing it on the desktop.

I'm not too sure if it is a graphical problem or not but I'm up for any suggestions. :p

My card is an Asus R9 280X DCUII TOP. What is the latest BIOS version for this card? In device manager, it just says that it's an R9 200 series. I download the 14.4 driver straight from the AMD site. I've DDU cleaner to remove old drivers that may be lingering about. I'm also running Windows 8.1 and have an 860W PSU

I'm pretty new to PC gaming so even the stupidest of suggestions are welcome.

Cheers!:D

Thats a new one. i just ran 3 loops of Metro 2033 Benchmark and it was fine.

Ok, so. Stupid suggestions, is the card properly seated in the PCIe? are the cables properly seated?

What card did you have in this rig before?

Card is properly seated and cables are fine.

There was no card before. It's a completely new build.

I don't know if it happens on other games or not seeing as Metro is the only one I've downloaded so far. Got Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, and Sleeping Dogs downloading now.

I don't know if it might be the monitor. It's about 3 or 4 years old and only has VGA so I've had to use a VGA to DVI converter.

Ok.

1, can you go into the BIOS and turn the Integrated Graphics off?

2, does that monitor have a HDMI you can test it on?

Gota go, love to help but i will have to leave it till later.

But i think it might be that converter if its working through the HDMI.

@ Draeger, i think by VGA he means the old D-Sub, he's using a D-Sub to DVI converter as the Monitor only has D-Sub.

D-Sub is what it is!

Narrowed it down to the converter or monitor. Thanks for the help, much appreciated! :D
