white square on my desktop

im running windows 7 and recently i noticed that there is a small white square at the top left of my desktop when i first start up the pc
it always goes away after a few mins

i did a scan for spyware but couldnt find anything and after some searching i found out it might be a web app that is on my pc, all i can seem to find is information about removing it in windows xp, apparently it had a web tab in the display properties but i cant seem to find anything like it on win7

when i right click the square and go to properties i get this

any ideas how to remove it? :confused:

Install CCleaner or use MSCONFIG to view a list of startup items. You may be able to disable it.

thanks for the suggestions mate but i tried both and its still there
i couldnt see anything that shouldnt be there in the msconfig list :confused:

You have a few services there with errors which is not healthy.

I noticed that;
O8 - Extra context menu item: Google Sidewiki... - res://C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google Toolbar\Component\GoogleToolbarDynamic_mui_en_89D8 574934B26AC4.dll/cmsidewiki.html

This line could give you popups in IE even though it's a google product. I can't see anything in that log that would lead to that white box.

Try rKill, see if that gets rid of it, then scan with malwarebytes. Its only a pop up ad or girl, of some kind

Does it happen in safe mode?

If not, then it's one of the items found in msconfig, so remove them one by one.

PS.....

It could be this resulting in a graphics glitch... I don't know why virtualgirl is there though ha ha!

Funny you mention that iDroid, my first reply post to this thread was "Do you have an ATI card?".

on my desktop, the single top-left pixel on the screen is white when i don't have a maximised window, and i can cover it up with the cursor.

right clicking on it doesn't do anything (acts as though i've right-clicked on empty-desktop)

Okay, it isn't white, it's the same colour as the UI bar around an out-of-focus window... most bizzare.

i just went into ie and disabled all the addons as i only use firefox and now its gone, i think it was the google one that caused the problems

i must have forgotten to uncheck a tickbox on a app and it installed without me knowing

It's good to see the square has gone, although I'm a little concerned about
