I see other browsers work
1) reset IE back to default in tools options, advanced.
2) after a ie restart check it does not have a proxy server set (or at least the box ticked) often done by virus' (tools, internet options, connections lan settings) nothing needs to be ticked there. (not likley as yuo jsut reset it but will not hurt to check)
if that is not set its either a virus trying to link into IE, or a firewall setting...
have you had norton, mcrappee or bullguard installed? if so download the removal tools and run them. (even if you think you removed them)
if you have another firewall prog installed uninstall it and see if that fix's your issue...
if you only have the windows firewall chekc IE is not blocked also try turning ot off.
if all else fails run a combofix to make sure there is no virus doing something funny
you have ruled out most other things already by getting another browser to work
