Who decided we should work a 5 day week?

I work on railway full time = 4 day week 35hrs and we have sooooooo many breaks its great and some days, when spare, we dont do anything!!! woooooo
When we do work its not much anyway but we get paid for what we know, not do.

oh.... can I see your ticket please!!!!! ;)

I love working full weeks. Makes me feel like I am actually doing something.

All I do at work is play games, take phone calls and play "pencil-roof-darts" with sharpened pencils and nice roofing tiles.

This, my friends, is the perks of being your own boss. I still make money... somehow.

I have this, I hate working at night because its on your mind all day, and thus ruins it. :(

Hmm, I used to work 1830-0200 Sunday evening through till Friday morning and much preferred it to the bog standard 9-5. I'd go to bed on Monday morning feeling smug that I'd done my first day of the week and everyone else would be getting up to start theirs in a few hours!

And I liked 4x10hrs as well - more free time overall, you save on two commutes every week.

yep use to work 2 days a week, with as much over time as I ewanted.. So I use to just do 3 *12hr shifts, those where the days.. Its great having 4 days off every week.

Run my own business.

"Supposed" to be doing I.T. sales, support, stuff. Business is slow in 2006 though. Not that we actually did any work anyway--I.T. is the easiest job to work in ever.

Some of you are missing the point by a long way.
When my Dad started work he had to go 7 days a week.
When I started in 1974 it was a 44hr week.
Because of the Unions they have slowly chipped away and 'engineering' companies now do a 37 hr week (4.5 days) which is what I do.
So to sum up - the people who said to do a 4-5 day week were the Unions and thank goodness they did.

40 hr 5 day week for me but my 'weekend' is Friday/Saturday since I work Sundays. But since I'm in charge on a Sunday it's more like a 4.5 day week :D
