I bought this a few weeks back (having already seen the film)

Watched it last night, and it's got to be the worst quality dvd I've ever seen..

Anyone else have this problem?

I don't remember it looking that bad on TV

The film itself is great, and so is the sound, but the picture was god damn awful

bit of a bump..

edit, after digging a little deeper I found this...

For this Special Edition, Warner Home Video has prepared a new transfer that is noticeably better than that of the previous release. The grain is entirely gone, rendering an image that is absolutely stable and without any blemishes. Not a speckle mars the picture throughout the film. Colors are fantastic with beautifully radiant colors and natural fleshtones. Blacks are immaculate, creating a deep image and shadows that are equally deep, yet never lose any of their intricate details. Only some signs of edge-enhancement are evident in select scenes, especially when shapes are silhouetted against the sky. The compression is flawless, leaving all the details of the image fully intact and making "Unforgiven" a beautiful presentation to behold.

so I've gotta buy the 'Special Edition' for a decent picture :(

the one I have now looks worse than VHS

It's funny how this happens, isn't it? When i bought The Matrix on DVD when it first came out, they'd managed to miss the entire Lobby scene out. He walks in, puts the bag on the conveyor, then it cuts, he picks it up, gets in th elift and looks at loads of dead security guards.

How that slipped through Quality Control is beyond me.

You could always try and return it claiming that it's ridiculous and unwatchable. Get some cash back at least!

bought it a while back, for about £3

probably easier to just sell this and buy a new one

The subtitles in this are quite awful. Really poor resolution with each letter practically merging into the others around it. Made it very hard for me to watch (and listen to being deaf). Might investigate the special edition to see if that is better as its an Eastwood film so a must see as I see it. :)

I've been super skint mate, I'm going Christmas shopping tomorrow, I'll keep an eye out for it

Watch this space..
