Most of us have the common sense to avoid neogaf.

I really don't know why I go there, it is 99% angst-ridden teens and 1% useful early info - but it's worth it I think. I first found out about MGS4 release dates, bundles, Home info, new 360 chipsets and elites, and so on on the website. It is a decent forum if you tolerate the people and look for the news though.

The kid did get his Xbox 360 in the end (it was a few minutes after the video ended) and he was a happy kid, but I can't help but think it's going to damage his consciousness. What his mother did was wrong.

I'd understand doing it if they actually got him the 360 and only wound him up for a short while but to wind him up like that without getting the console for him is just harsh!

He did get the 360, read the description, his mum just teased him because he was snooping around for it and got caught.

Not according to engadget:

"Update: We've been flooded with email from well-meaning geeks and even Microsoft; just about everyone wants to help us hook up Jonathan. We totally appreciate the sentiment, but we've got this covered. We think we've gotten in touch with his family (who let us know he never got an Xbox, and the whole thing really was a prank on the poor kid); once we know for sure we have the right people we'll post again."

Yeah, I can imagine the conversation now:

Endgadget: "hi is that the family who posted the youtube video of the kid being tricked into thinking he had an Xbox 360 on christmas day?"

Famliy: "erm... yeah!"

Endgadget: "well we felt so sorry for the poor guy that we're gonna give him a brand new xbox 360 and some games to make up for your cruelty - he never actually got a 360 right?"

Family: "hell no. We did it just be be cruel, now have you got a pen so you can right down our address where to send that new 360?"

Like they are going to say anything different!!!

I believe he is referencing the scene in the film 'spartacus' where many people are fighting over who is really the character spartacus in order to convey his opinion that many people will be willing to pretend they are the family of that kid in order to get a free xbox360. I thought is was a very good reference and i enjoyed it thoroughly :D

I thought it was ok right up to the point were he started crying, i expected the family to be like "only kidding here it is" at that point.

To be fair though the kid does have cool hair!
