Who has got FarCry3? need help please (anyone owning a ubisoft title can also help)

I am fumin now, I was debatin to torrent the game, but ubisoft this is the worst experience i had on PC hands down, cannot get a refund on my purchase and I will NOT download the torrent, what a waste of £23 quid.

As crap as Ubisoft have become recently, I fail to see how you can blame them for you using CJS, which is a well known dodgy site.

I won't back up buying dodgy keys, however uPlay is the worse piece of software I have ever used on my PC. Urghhh it's awful.

Get something like Revo Uninstaller and remove everything to do with Farcry 3 and uPlay.

Then install uPlay from the Ubisoft site and then try downloading the game again.

EDIT: Make sure to reboot your PC after removing everything.

EDIT 2: With the official purchase you get an email with a digital river link that downloads a download manager. This installs uPlay and Far Cry 3. When you launch it for the first time you pop your product key in uPlay and that is it.

I bought the original from a retailer and had the same issue.

At the end of the install the machine shutdown rebooted (installing DirectX I believe). I then got the same error concerning the launcher not being installed. Updating didn't work.

I then uninstalled and reinstalled and it cleared the issue and updated. I then had to register a UPlay account . Getting really irrirtating with companies insisting on having to use their internet clients for game management. Steam was enough and I do like it but now the others are following suit it is getting clumbersome.

Oh, the game is great though. Spent Sunday forgetting what a terrible game FarCry 2 was and remembering the fantastic FarCry.

I got FC3 via a code with new graphics card. No installation/download issues for me, but then I didn't download it until Saturday afternoon. I just run fc3dx11 exe, whatever it's called. I'm not sure how to change the shortcut it added to windows, or to see if it's pointing at that executable.

Anyway, yes - I agree that it's irritating to have to use their own clients to launch games. Origin, UPlay... stupid.

They're like steam, but not good.

This sounds more like user error, rather than the key being invalid. Still silly for buying from a grey market key vendor though.

No, they have CJS' money, not yours.

A good rule of thumb is never buy anything except DRM-free or Steam games from key-sellers, as Origin/Uplay/Securom etc. are bloody dodgy DRM and can break incredibly easily and totally render your product useless. I'd contact CJS tbh, they might help you out, Ubi will most likely tell you to do one the second you mention CJS.

The game launcher is the ubi soft uplay software
I couldn't run farcry 3 till i installed it mainly as i just wiped my pc
